USB Tape backup problem

Alex

Hello,
I have a Seagate Travan tape backup with USB connection.
It came with Retrospect software and I found an article on
Microsoft that acknoledges this problem but says that it
works with retrospect. Also says that I shouldnt use
NTBackup.exe and I dont. Also theres something
about "extra tape polling" relating to "built-in Windows
XP tape drive drivers"... how do I disable it?

Thank you

I had a simular problem with a Seagate tape drive. After a lot of trial and
error I solved my tape drive problem by unplugging the usb cables from the
tower case for my usb printer and joystick. Apparently the printer
occasionally receives a status check from the computer even when it is not
printing and that fouled up the tape backup process. Turning off the printer
would not do it the usb cable had to be unplugged from the computer so the
tape backup was the only usb device plugged in. Hope this helps
Joe
