USB Removable drives

I have just installed the new vista operating system trial and come to put in
my usb removable drive to get files off it only to find that vista says usb
device unrecgonised. I thought it might be because the drive is fat32 and
copied files to the drive fine using xp professional. I can't format the usb
drive to ntfs because i want to get my files off first. Does vista not
recognise fat32 drives and how can i get my stuff off? Or is there other
reason why it won't read it.

USB flash drives are FAT format and mine have all been recognised with Vista
I can transfer files to and from.
I have also been able to use my external drives USB & firewire although they
are formatted to NTFS but preume they would react in the same way.

Same problem here... but I know my USB external is formated NTFS... but Vista
won't mount it. Shows as an NTFS device in the explorer too.
