usb ports

Hi anyone,
I have an HP laptop with an expansion base. All the usb ports worked fine
until I took the laptop off the base for the second time. When I connected it
back up, none of the usb ports on the dock are being recognised.
The power is going through the dock and the ports all appear to be okay but
nothing is working.

We had a similar problem with a "Kensington Notebook station with USB
hub" and a laptop a few weeks back - turns out the laptop stands are
now discontinued as the powerd hubs were shorting out/blowing usb
ports. and everything attached.

Just a thaught but it isnt a Kensington one is it?!

Otherwise check in Device Manager (My Computer --> Properties -->
Hardware --> Device Manager)

Do you have any faults displayed in there? Do your USB ports / Second
USB root hub (The base) show up in there?

Thank you so much for responding. It could be that. The usb ports all seem to
be active and working in the device manager although 2 aren't showing up with
anything in the device usage box. I may need to contact the manufacturer.
