I have not been having much luck gettng my new Fuji
Digital Camera to download the photos onto my laptop.
Ive tried everything and have decided the only thing left
that could be wrong is that my USB port(s) are not
configured correctly.

How do I check this and how do I fix it?

Carolyn

You have to go into the Bios and make sure that the USB ports are enabled.
Look in your manual for how to do that.
Then once that is done Rt Click on MyComputer>Properties>Hardware>Device
Manager. Scoll down to Universal
Serial Bus Controllers. Click on the + sign and see if there is any
yellow marks next to any of the entrys
