USB Phone is Unknown Device

I have a VoipVoice Cyberphone K USB Phone but I cannot get my PC to detect
it. I have many other USB devices which are working fine. The manual says
that it should be autodetected and no additional driver is necessary. It
always comes up as an unknown device though and cannot be used.

I have tried the following:

* tried on friends PC with XP Home and it is autodetected fine. - It does
not appear to be a problem with the phone itself.

* booted in safemode and removed all usb stuff. redetected as unknown
device.

* removed registry setting manually
HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\enum\usb\Vid_0000&Pid_0000 which is the key
which says unknown device beneath it.

* tried all USB ports on both front and back panels.

I have a Shuttle PC with Nvidia on-board audio. Could this be interferring?

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE !!!!!

Thanks

John

How many motherboard based USB ports do you have?

Do all the USB ports have a device connected to the port, when you connect
the USB phone?

Have you tried to connect the phone to a USB hub? Self powered hub or USB
powered hub?

I have 4 USB ports. I have tried the phone in all of them. At present, only
one other port is in use. This is the mouse.
I have even tried removing all USB devices from the ports and removing the
USB stuff in device manager and then rebooting.
Once I plug in the phone again though, it is still detected as an unknown
device.

I have not tried using a hub because I do not have one. All the USB ports
are powered though.

I may have to give up and return the phone. It is of no use to me at
present.
