USB Pen Drive Troubles

I'm at a net cafe where I don't have tons of privilages,
but if I can submit a good case on how to fix my troubles
the university will probably do so.

A year ago this net cafe was new. It uses Win2k Pro, some
small Dell systems, etc. A few people bring in USB pen
drives.

Over time the computers would fail to recognize our
drives. They work elsewhere, at home or at other labs. But
computer by computer, the ones in this net cafe would fail
to function.

When I insert my USB Apacer Handydrive (128 meg, if it
helps) I get the Unplug or Eject Hardware icon in the
lower righthand portion of my screen, but no message
telling me that a USB mass storage device has been found.
By right clicking on the drice entry in the control panel
and going to properties, I'm told that the driver isn't
loaded.

Any ideas?
