USB memory stock no longer recognizable after using friend's compu

I have a Lexarmedia Jumpdrive 256 MB. I have used it as a backup for my
school work and to work on it when I am not at my home computer.

I have had no problems with going back and forth between home and school
computers, but the other day I used it on my friends laptop, saved my work
and pulled out the stick. She has XP but had not updated to XP SP2, while I
have.

When I got home, I plugged it into my home computer a window popped up at
the bottom saying the USB device had been detected, and then a brief window
opened showing "scanning" of one of the folders I had saved on the stick, but
then another window popped up saying please insert disk into drive e. (where
the stick was
already plugged in). When I go to My Computer, it shows up as a removable
storage device in my e drive, but when I double click to open the drive, it
still doesn't open.

The only way I can get it to recognize the drive and access its contents is
by restarting my computer while the jumpdrive is plugged in. If, after
stopping device and unplugging and reinserting, the drive is not recongized
and I have to restart again. I've tried on my work computer and the same
thing happens.

So what's the deal? Is there some kind of incompatibility when using USB
ports and
switching between computers that do and do not have SP2? If so, how can I
remedy this?

What version of Lexar Jumpdrive do you have? The Blue Lexar
Jumpdrive Pro, Silver-Red Jumpdrive Traveler, Purple Jumpdrive,
etc.? Note that a driver file needs to be installed or updated
for Windows XP. AFAIK, we have had no issues moving the Lexar
Jumpdrive 2.0 Pro's amongst a large number of computers.

I have a Lexar JumpDrive Sport 256 MB. I went to Lexar's website and it
didn't appear that the Sport needed a driver installed....is that correct?
