I am having trouble with any HDD / Flash disk I try to attach to my Win XP
Pro system (IBM ThinkCentre 8307-D1G) . The system recognizes that a new
device has been attached, Windows starts loading the necessary resources but
in the end the HDD, if at all present in the Windows Explorer, does not
function ; that is its contents are not visible. Most of the times the disk
is not present neither in the Disk Manager nor in the Windows Explorer.
I have tried numerous times to reload the drivers, deleting and reinstalling
(regrettably this is an automatic process) all USB root hubs and controllers,
but all efforts were unsuccessful. The disks that are not operable on this PC
are operable on my laptop and many other PCs.
Can anyone think of something else to try? Could I do a Windows Repair from
the preinstalled S/W files without harming the user files already in the PC?
Please help, this is a very unpleasant situation.
