USB Hard drive not recognised

N

Nel

My brother brought his vista laptop to mine to copy a few bits & bobs across
from my 160Gig USB Drive. I connected it up, but the laptop would not
recognise it - via both the USB & Firewire ports.

I hadn't used the drive for a while, so thought that it must have bitten the
dust. But when I plugged it into my PC it was immediately recognised and
sprang to life!

Surely Vista should have the correct drivers to recognise a bog standard USB
hard drive lke that? My XP PC did require any additional drivers when first
connected to it, so what's up?

TIA

I have 3 USB drive cases. Two of them will not show me the drive when
connected under Vista. The other one will.

It is likely not your drive, but the hardware/electronic implementation in
the drive case.
