USB H-Speed Issue

Chet

First, thank you for trying to help me!

I had XP Home, and bought the Pro upgrade so that I could
set up my own VPN. Ever since I upgraded, I get this
message about having my Pioneer DVr-108 DVD burner (and
probably my Netgear wireless USB adapter) being Hi-Speed
devices plugged into non hi-speed USB ports. I don't know
what the deal is. I've tried right clicking and updat8ing
the drivers of each of the devices under USB in the
device manager, but it says the drivers are all up to
date. Does anyone have any ideas? My DVD burning has gone
from taking 30 mins to 3+ hours. PLEASE HELP! :)

HI-Speed USB devices require a USB 2.0 root port in your PC in order not to
get this "warning" message.

If you have this message, you not using a USB 2.0 port on your PC. The
devices will work correctly but at slower speeds.

Thank you both for answering. I still don't get it
though, why would my DVD ripping speed (from external USB
dvd drive to hard drive) speed decrease so much after
installing XP Pro?

Are the USB ports on the motherboard or on a card? If on the motherboard,
XPpro might have overwritten the mobo driveres. Install the again..

Hi Chet, I have had a similar problem before. As Thomas has just suggested
if you have the driver CD of your motherboard please insert it and run the
USB driver again.if this does not help you probably have a USB 1.1 port
ab-initio.you may buy a commercially available USB 2.0 card and upgrade.Be
sure its a 2.0.
