usb flash drives

I'm running win2000 and I just bought a usb 128mb flash
drive. my machine shuts down and restarts. the virus
software is up to date. . I run PC-Cillin. any ideas?

SUPPOSEDLY Service Pack 4 fixes that but it didn't for me. I finally
gave up and got a different computer!
