Usb Flash Drive removal

In using a USB flash drive, can it be left in the computer for an extended
period of time? Or should it be removed after a specific amoumt of time after
using?

I don't know but I've got one that has been plugged in for many many months
without any problems.

I keep mine in almost permanently and use it to back up my primary data
