USB Flash Drive not seen on one XP machine.

Why would a USB flash drive on a specific XP box now show up as a
drive, but it does on all my own boxes?

You get the plug and play notification, but thats it. I can't access
it as a drive. No "PLAY WITH ..." window, no drive in "My Computers."

But no sweet on my own XP box and on a Windows 2003 machine where I
have to eventually use it from and copy to over LAN.

Here's the thing: This was happening before the box as first
installed with XP/PRO SP2 CD. Couldn't figure out what was the issue
but maybe there some setting I did. But its only done a few times a
year so I just copied the files from the Windows 2003 machine.

Last week, this box OS was crippled so I had to reinstall XP/PRO SP2.
I ran Windows Update to get all the SP2 patches.

We had to use the USB flash drive again so I tried it again on this
box with the same issue. This time I know I didn't change anything.

I was thinking it was some Microsoft security block added to XP
update, but I have SP3 on my own machine. No block there.

What is going on?

Sometimes it's because it doesn't allocate a drive letter. Does it show in
"disk management", check by right clicking on "my computer" and select
"manage" then at the next screen "disk management".
