I have a Win XP SP1. Whenever I plug anything in the USB
ports, it dissapears from the system in a couple of
seconds. When I try to copy files from/to an USB HDD, the
mapped letter wanishes from the Explorer, so i need to
unplug the USB and shut the external HDD off before
restarting. I tried reinstalling the USB 2.0 drivers,
installing generic drivers for the USB peripherals, even
reinstalling Windows on a freshly formatted HDD. It
didn't dolved the problem.
In the device manager, the USB hubs share the IRQs with
the onboard nVidia soundcard, which I use.
Any help, please? Thanks in advance.

Perhaps the fault lies with the hard drive rather than
the USB port.

Actually, the hard drive worked perfectly on other
computers, and I tried a Flash Pen drive on my USB ports
with the same results.

IRQ sharing is OK. An ideais to have all your hardware plugged into the USB
port, then un-install your drivers for then USB and restart Windows. Let it
re-install the drivers automatically and see what happens then.

Radu, you have trimmed the original message too short; now nobody knows what
the problem is!
