when installing a new USB hot drive, I inadvertently named it a "disk drive"
in the setup process. I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall it several
times, but it always comes back as a disk drive, and therefore I can't use
it.

I can't seem to figure out how to change the drive properties on it so that
I am able to use it. I use another USB Hotdrive which works fine, but since I
screwed the installation of this one, it is only recognized as a disk drive
and I get the "no disk" message when I try to read the drive.

There MUST be a way to fix it...anyone have an idea??

If you just did this you could try system restore to just before you did
this.

Tried that too, but it seems as if the drive type is stored somehwere that a
system restore doesn't help with.
