Hello Supporters :)
Ok, i have the following spec PC:

Chaintech 7VJl1 Motherboard (Socket A)
AMD Athlon 1800+ XP Processor
256MB DDR Ram
30GB HDD
120GB HDD
CDRW Drive
DVD Drive
4 Port USB 1.1 PCI Card
4 Port USB 2.0 PCI Card
2 Onboard USB 2.0
2 Case USB 2.0 Ports
Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade
300W PSU

Ok.. After i install 2-3 USB Devices i cannot install
anymore (this is any combination, powered or not - ZIP
Drives.. Sony Digital Cameras.. anything. Ive formatted
over 20 times and this does not resolve the problem. The
error i get is when i try to install anything windows
tries to track down the drivers, then displays 'Windows
cannot find the software for your hardware' - this is the
case when i move the devices around, if i want to install
something else i have to format, this is very frustrating!

Please help

Matthew

Upgrade your PSU (Power Supply Unit). You need a MINIMUM of 350watts for an
Athlon XP and you're under that already. Plus you have a LOT of USB
devices... each port needs power. Go for something like a 500watt unit and
you may be happier.

Hey Cari
A couple of people have mentioned that, but its not
coming up 'USB Devices need more power' or whatever
windows message pops up (like it did on my old laptop) -
its just saying that windows cannot find the drivers to
install (even if i try to install manually, its just not
having it). Do you still think its the PSU?

Cari more then likely is correct. USB devices power each
item through the USB Cable. Each device therefore becomes
a power drain on the power supply. If the cables, ports
etc are not being powered properly they won't work and
windows may have trouble recognizing them.

USB devices are capable of supporting up to 127 devices
daisey chained together, so you shouldn't have to reformat
each time you want to move or install another device. They
are suppose to be "hot swappable" also however, it's a
good idea to "eject" the device prior to disconnecting it.
This is done with the usb icon located in the sys tray
in the bottom right corner of your screen near the clock.
