USB device not seen by Explorer

WinXP ver 5.1(bld2600,050301-1519)

2.93GHZ Celeron Proc, 1 GB mem.

WD HDD (INTernal) 120 gb
WD HDD (external) 160 gb

Ext drv was initialised using WD provided software, assigned drv G:

This USB device is always powered on, but often not recognised by Explorer.
Can be forced to be recognised by removing/restoring power to this USB drv.

Is this a correctable problem?

Usually ... try an External Powered USB Hub ... make sure it says "HighSpeed" USB.
