i'm trying to set-up a network between 2 PC both running
on winXp pro,pc1 has a network card and modem but pc2
doesnt have either a network card or a modem using direct
link via a USB cable which is possible under win98.But
what about winXp?

pc2 cannot run network wizard without detecting a network
card..

p/s help me..thank you

Why not go out and by a cheap NIC for PC2? Then you can connect the two with
a crossover cable or get a hub & connect them both using CAT5
straight-through cables.

You can't network two Windows computers using just a simple USB cable.
USB Networking requires additional hardware, such as a USB-to-Ethernet
adapter or a USB networking cable with extra circuitry. That's the
same in win98 and winXp.

What type of USB cable/device do you have? Are there winXp drivers
available for it? What exactly isn't working when you try to use it
with winXp?

I'm with LANwench on this. Last time I walked through my favorite
PC second-hand store, they had a box of used NICs for 5$US each.

{Ms. LANwench - do you repair transmissions? <g>}

No, but I've busted a few. :-)
