USB conflict

P

Peter

Hi

I am using many (7) USB ports on my computer..However sometimes there seems
to be a conflict between some of the devices that use the various USB
connection. Each device has its on USB port on the computer and all but one
work well. The one that works intermittently is my Creative MP3 player..The
computer does see it when I connect and displays new USB device found..
However the computer never manages to locat the device (MP3 player) and
swap files...

And advice gratefully received..

Cheers Peter....

I have noticed that certain USB devices prefer to be on a primary USB socket:
that is the forst one of the PC [not the first on a Hub, which itself may be
on the second scoket of a PC].

Try moving the USB plug for the MP3 device to a PC socket.

You want to make sure your Power Supply Unit is sufficient and that the USB
hub is not set in its Power Management Settings to the default which is to
go to sleep if not in use.

The Power Management Settings are under each USB Root Hub in Device Manager.
