I am having a problem using my USB ports. My OS is Windows XP Pro
(upgrade). Anything plugged into either of my two ports will cause the
computer to freeze (quite soon after the devices are turned on). I have an
older Gateway 500 Mhz with 256 Mb of RAM. Is this a Bios problem or USB
controller problem? Any suggestions on troubleshooting and repair? I would
like to be able to use my scanner, digital camera, and MP3 player.

What am I looking for? I see errors in the system log (xyz.....terminated
unexpectedly). I don't see anything in security or application logs.
