USB Card-reader fails

O

Ole Fisker

Windows 2000 Sp4.
After boot and when connecting USB card-reader USB2.0(Dane-
Elec 8 in 4 Combo), then system hangs.
If Card-reader is connected before boot, the reader is
found, and after a reboot it only maps the drives where
card(s) is connected. Before reboot, no drives are mapped.
If card is removed and re-inserted, the drive-maaping
dissapeares. Then I'll have to insert the card and reboot,
then the card is drive-mapped.
On the same PC with win98SE installed, all 4 drives are
mapped when the reader is connected.
On another PC with win 2000 SP4 installed, all 4 drives
are mapped, when the reader is connected, so the reader is
surely Ok?

Hope anyone can help.

Best regards
Ole

Look at my post about SP4 and Disk Drives 2 sets back.
Basically, SP4 screws up everything that has to deal with
disk mounted harddrives (ie- ipod, thumbdrives, digital
cameras, etc) MS has released a patch that claims to fix
this problem, but it hasn't worked for me... you can try
it, just go to updates and look for it. If it works for
you, let me know!

Have now tried on a lot of different PC's.
It seems that the only PC's the card reader doesn't work
on, is equipped with a HP CD-RW drive (8000 and 9000
series).
Have tried on som of the PC's to uinstall SP4, where it
was possible. That did not affect the function og the card-
reader.
It seem's that it maybe is the Hp-drivers, that causes the
trouble ?.

Update for Windows 2000 (KB820888)

I think this is the update that claimed to fix usb
diskdrive issues.
