USB Cable modem connection problem

N

I have a broadband connection using a Globalspan Virata USB ASDL WAN
Modem. While the connection is working OK, I bought a spare USB Cable
which was tested and found OK with the vendor. However, when I
connected the USB cable with the PC and modem at home, I could not
establish the connection. I tried the same with one more new UBS cable
with same result. Any solution? Any particular specs for USB modem
cable?

1. Make sure that you have the USB driver for the modem installed.
2. You need to make sure you use the same USB port that the original cable was installed. XP handles USB connections differently than W98, it is not truly plug and play. You will need to first remove the reference for the connected device from the PC's Device Manager under the USB controllers section.
3. If the Broadband Modem is listed in the Device manager, you might consider deleting the entry, reboot PC. Then let Windows redetect it.
