USB + 250gig HD = O NO

I recently got a 250 gig hard drive which I wanted to use as a logical drive among several computers via USB for media philes. I am all updated to SP4 and did the registry hack. When the drive is hooked up to the ide channel everything is great. W2k sees all the partions I created 50g, 80g. and 115. I am able to read and write to all partions, life is good.

Now I take the drive and put it into a usb encloseure and connect it to the same computer in the usb port and all I see are the first two partions, 50g and 80g. W2k on boot asks me if I want to format the 3rd partions which is 115g and has data on it (for testing purposes). At one point I clicked yes and the O/S came back that it couldn't format the partion. Now I take the drive and put it back in the ide, and everything is normal. W2k sees all three partions..... duh. All drives are set as Cable Select.

How do I get W2k to see all the partions via the usb?
Pleeze send help !!

TIA
