USB 2.0 ports running at 1.1

Though the asus A7N8X deluxe mb states it has 6 usb 2.0 ports, they all seem
to be running at 1.1 speed. I can tell this because the Maxtor One Touch II
external drive will not exceed ~ 1mb/sec on any port. Maxtor states this
means it is not on a 2.0 port.

I ran Microsoft's UVCView and got this info

What do the 2 entries for "Standard Open HCD USB Host Controller" mean?
There are 6 ports under the NVIDIA Enhanced Host Controller, which would
seem to encompass all ports.

I thought of removing the 2 above mentioned entries in device manager but
the "bluetooth wireless hub" under the first controller at Port 1 (Port 1)
is for a touchy Logitech USB bluetooth hub controlling their bluetooth
keyboard/mouse. I am quite chicken to mess with it since it is working.

My idealistic hope is that in removing the the standard controllers
(underlying assumption = they are causing 1.1 function), the NVIDIA
enhanced drivers present will prevent the need for the OS to reinstall lower
grade drivers?

You apparently have not loaded all the drivers for your motherboard
chipsets.

Also, check the BIOS setting, USB 2.0 often has to be
enabled.

It's all as it should be. An USB2 host controller has two
incarnation - one for USB1 and another for USB2. USB1
devices appear to be attached to the USB1 incarnation,
USB2 devices (high speed or not) to the USB2 incarnation.

USB1 has a limited number of ports per host controller.
That's why the USB1 incarnation appears splitted into two
host contollers.

To the OP - as you see on the picture, your disk is connected
to the "enhanced" controller, so it does actually work in 2.0 mode.
No idea why it is slow, maybe the manufacturer can tell you.

Is it possible that the USB 2 drive can attach to the enhanced controller
but the drive only operate at USB 1 speed?

Checking with Maxtor.

If you click on the 'Mass Storage Device' you see
detailed information on the right pane like this:

ConnectionStatus:
Current Config Value: 0x01 -> Device Bus Speed: High
Device Address: 0x04
Open Pipes: 2

===>Endpoint Descriptor<===
bLength: 0x07
bDescriptorType: 0x05
bEndpointAddress: 0x81 -> Direction: IN - EndpointID:1
bmAttributes: 0x02 -> Bulk Transfer Type
wMaxPacketSize: 0x0200 = 0x200 max bytes
bInterval: 0x01

There should be 'Device Bus Speed: High'" and the PacketSizes
should be 0x0200.
