USB 2.0 PCI Adapter with 1.1 Devices

I just put in a new Adaptec USB 2.0 PCI card. The card works perfectly with
any 2.0 device (the only 2.0 device I have is a Lexar JumpDrive Trio) - XP
SP1 sees the devices, it works perfectly, etc. However, whenever I plug in a
1.1 device into the 2.0 card, nothing happens - the card doesn't see it, I
get no messages, etc.

I would have thought that the 2.0 card would recongize and use both 1.1 and
2.0 devices - Am I incorrect? BTW, I have tried both the Adaptec
drivers -and- the native WinXP drivers - neither seem to 'see' a 1.1 device.

Any ideas? I know the card is OK because, as I mentioned, my 2.0 device
works great.

Perhaps the cable on the 1.1 device is defective, try a
different cable (or device).

Jim: Actually, I have tried ALL of my 1.1 devices - each with it's own cord.
None of them are 'seen' by the the board. But again, as soon as I plug my
one 2.0 device in, it works like a champ!

So I should deduce that a 1.1 device will work on a 2.0 card? Any other
ideas?

The nature of the USB 2 standard is the fact that the USB ports should be
able to recognise USB 1 (1.0 and 1.1) devices. I do not now much about the
Adaptec card but I would contact their Tech Support and ask if this card
follows the USB 2 standard or if the is a USB 2 only card.
