Ive just got an Ipod nano and it suggests that you better run it off usb 2.0
for the proper power supply to charge. I got the message It can run fast or
some crap I dno. Its a fairly modern computer i asumed the USB ports wud be
the later models... Its got 4 usb Ports at the back of the comp, and 2 out
the front with headphone and Mic jack.

Someone please tell me how to find out if, and which ones, are USB 2.0 or
USB1.1. Is there a way to tell through windows?
Thanks Heaps

Just looking at a few other threads on this board i came to realise this
question has been asked haha :S. But I have 10 Entries under the Universal
Serail Bus port catagory in the device manager, only one of them says
'Enhanced', The computer has about 6 USB ports in total. how the heck do i
tell which one is the 'enhanced' one.

(Enhanced means 2.0 or later aparently according to other forums =).)
Thanks Alot every one!

They all are, the one Enhanced Controller handles them all.

Additional info IO forgot to add, check the BIOS to be sure
USB 2.0 is enabled, it may not be by default.

Of coarse it would help to have the computer make and model numbers to plug
in our crystal balls. Download Belarc Advisor and run it to find out
everything about your computer....

Not necessarily i think you'll find.

My ECS K7S5A Pro (an oldish m/board by todays standards granted) has four
USB 2.0 ports on the back of the PC.
It has an additional header on the motherboard to add extra ports - all
these extra USB ports are USB 1.1 only.

Ok, KM4M Series AMD Athlon. (VIA KM400 Chipset Based)
the booklet mentions nothing about the back panel being... anything.. doesnt
mention model numbers or anything.
front panel, JUSB2 and JUSB3 are two USB 2.0 Pin headers. I am guessing this
means the two front ports are usb 2.0 :D. If not someone please advise cuz
ill be waltzing off in the wrong direction lol.
Thankyou to everone who helped!!! very nice to see 4 new posts only over
nite :).
Thanks

"Download Belarc Advisor..." Woody this program was awesome thanks alot for
that. It only mention one usb port was enhanced and the other was not. and
the computer documentation says the front panel is 2.0 so i asume its that.
Il check the bios to see its enabled. Post back if im too stupid to haha.
Thanks alot woody and everone else

Sounds like it is time to buy either a USB 2.0 card [combo
with Firewire maybe] or a new computer. BTW, have you
checked your BIOS for USB settings, on my Intel D845GBVL,
the BIOS default does not have the USB at 2.0, it is a user
choice.
