USB 2.0 mobile hard disk

I run An Athlon 64 3000 with 512 MB ram, Windows XP Pro SP2 fully updated

Am trying to install a LaCie USB 2.0 mobile hard disk, with not much luck.
When I plug it in, Windows finds new unknown hardware, but a n error occurs
during installation, so disk does not work.

Have another Harddisk in same pc, installed same version of Windows on that,
Plugging in LaCie disk, it works first time.

Any suggestions thanks?
Has an error occurred in original instalation left corrupt files?
Is there sometrace of the LaCie disk sill on PC?

Did you install the drivers without the LaCie plugged in?

LaCiae disk does not need drivers in XP.
When i installed windows xp on my second disk, plugged in LaCie & it worked
1st time.
