USB 2.0 card inst, old usb's /dead/

Installed half ht USB card in my WINxp machine. they work
ok. However my original 1.1 ports are 'unusable'. Any
ideas on how to reactivate the 1.1 ports?

Check in the BIOS/CMOS to see if they are active. Just by adding a USB card
does not disable the other on the motherboard.
 
Look in the manual for your motherboard. Often a PCI slot is 'reserved'....
using it will disable 'something' on the board - and that something is often
onboard USB.

If you have other PCI slots available, try another 'spare' one. Only the
motherboard manual can tell you whether the slot is really available for
use.
