Usage Reports -- defining visits

I cannot find definitions for visits and hits used in FrontPage's usage reports. Does someone know or know of a good place to find the information? Thanks.

The same as any web log

Visits - users that opened the page
Hits - any load / reload of any file on (and including) the page
If I open your home page on your site that is 1 visit
If it includes 10 images and a html file that's 11 hits,
And if I refresh the page once the visits stays at 1 but the hits jump to 22

That's why Hit counters are essentially worthless
(even it they only count the html page)

Thanks Stefan. Can a visit be to any page... vs. coming in on the home page? i.e., if they access a buried page on the site from a link.

Yes - any page is a visit, however they get there
