URLs in emails very slow to open in IE

I am using Outlook 2003 via exchange.

When I click on a URL link contained in an email, outlook freezes for a good
10 seconds or so before finally launching IE. Even once IE is launched it
seems to take a while to display the page.

This is rather annoying!

Any ideas as to what is causing this? I had thought it was my virus
software, but it appears it is not.

What OS and version of IE? The antiphishing feature in IE can cause slow
loading of pages.

I am using XP Home on both machines, and both machines have IE8 installed.

The phishing filter is disabled - I found it tool too long.

It happens on both machines.

It is more Outlook that takes a while to launch IE - and while you wait for
it to launch you cannot use Outlook.
