URLs in decimal notation

Hi

Does anyone know when IE stopped supporting URL's typed in decimal notation? Was it a service pack? For instance

URL: http://www.google.co
IP Notation: http://66.102.11.99
Decimal notation: http://1113983843

In mozilla and older versions of IE these all resolved to googles website. IE 6 seems to prevent this. Does anyone know if this was a patch release that "fixed" this
