URl redirected to unavaulable server

I need help. A friend has a newer Dell with XP Home. I
believe he has IE 6.0. Each time you type in a new URL,
IE redirects all typed URL's to a certain url that is not
available. I can not find how to get rid of this
redirect? It makes his IE useless, since the only page he
can attempt to pull up is not available, and not a page
he really wants to view....

It is recommended every computer have both programs (or
alternatives) on top of your Anti-Virus Program
Make sure they are always updated and run them regularly,
especially after you have downloaded a program or your
computer/browser begins acting different/strange.

Windows Updates - Update Windows regularly (at the very
least once a month) - ALWAYS download Critical Updates.
You can set your computer for automatic updates if you
prefer.
