Brendan

I installed sp1 this morning. I later tried to uninstall
it, and my computer froze. I reset it, and went to
uninstall it again, but when I clicked remove, it said
that it may have already been removed, so i clicked
remove from list. Now, when I start windows, an error
message about unknown versions of files needed to run.
windows. Underneath, it says insert sp1 cd, but I didnt
get the Service Pack from the actual SP1 cd, it came from
another microsoft experience xp cd. If I click cancel and
insert the cd to install the pack again, after a few
seconds, the Installation is cancelled automatically! I
really need help, it's not my pc!

Thank You For Reading and please respond asap!

Sp1 makes a restore point before installing, I've had a few wonky ones, and
dropping back to that restore point and reinstalling Sp1 fixed it every
time. I know....I know...I'm lucky :-)

regards, Richard

Hi Brendan

Try a 'Repair ' install:
