I am not able to defragment one of my drives. Its showing DEFRAGMENTING
upto some % and then stays like that. But the report of Analyze shows
no defragmented file. My other drives can be defragmented as usual,
there is problem wid only one drive.... How this can be fixed.. Will
restoring my system to an earlier date will help..
ps reply...

not likely.

You can try a third party defragger, if you like. But.... the
performance boost for defragmented drives under XP is not great,
especially for non-program files.

Not a real problem in itself. But... do you have some other issue?
(crappy performance, eg)

No, I am not having any other problem, as crappy performance n all..
The only thing... It is not being defragmented. It gets stuck after
20%. Moreover, its not showing any defragmented file too... What cud b
the probable cause of this?? I don need to defragment it now, but if
the problem remains same, i wont b able to defragment it when I really
need it...

Then check the disc (as per Rock). and try again. If it works, great.
If not, no worries.
