Can anyone tell me if there is a maximum filesize for a
spreadsheet ?
I am sitting with a Dell Precision 450 with 2 processors
and a gig of ram , a 5 gb pagefile

My Excel file is approx 65 mb and I am getting a out of
memory error followed by excel closing down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

There isn't a definitive limit as it depends on many
factors not just size. but 65 is pretty big, I have heard
of workbooks upto 100 meg that worked ok. My
recommendation would be 20-30 max, and really that is a
strong recommendation to look at other technologies.

The XL version and the OS are important XL XP and 2003
being significantly better than 2000 or 97. You also need
a pro version of an os, but I guess you have this if you
have a dual processor pc.

Is there much vba in it?

have a look here for more advice:
