Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/System/Advanced tab/Performance/Settings ta
Advanced/Virtual Memory - change settings to
Ini - 1 1/2 times RA
Max - 3 times RA
In other words if you have 256mgs of RAM, change Init to 384 and Max to 768 respectively
Make sure to click Apply and then OK to set and save settings. Good luck.

If you are using AOL 9.0, then maybe you'll want to go back to AOL 8.0 -
which uses less RAM.

You should check your system tray (bottom-right of the screen) for
useless programs. Right-click some of icons and see if there's an option
to disable them.

This is often repeated advice, but it's a poor way to do it.

First of all, how much Page File someone needs depends on what
apps he runs. There is no single setting that's best for
everyone.

Second, the Page File substitutes for real memory. The more RAM
you have, the *less* Page File you need.

thta's urgent....sssssshhhhhhhhhhh.......you gotta get your priorities in
order...life is not that tough....

Unfortunately, Jody, you are also a novice writer. For instance, sentences
normally start with a capitol letter, "appering" is misspelled (should be
"appearing"), "there" and "their" have two different meanings (and you used
the wrong one), "no" and "know" also have two different meanings (and again
you used the wrong one), and there are no such words as "im", "ive" and
"wasnt".

For composing letters, get yourself a spell checker, and learn to express
yourself correctly. That will definitely ease your path through life.

As to your question, thank Ken Blake for answering it.

Ken, I stand partially corrected. As the below quote from Alex Nichols, MS MVP states
"But have a high Maximum size — 700 or 800 MB or even more if there is plenty of disk space. Having this high will do no harm. Then if you find the actual pagefile.sys gets larger (as seen in Explorer), adjust the initial size up accordingly. Such a need for more than a minimal initial page file is the best indicator of benefit from adding RAM: if an initial size set, for a trial, at 50MB never grows, then more RAM will do nothing for the machine's performance.
Although the old sage advise was to tripple the RAM in Virtual Memory still holds true today
I have used this procedure and have had no problems with page files
As a computer technician and licensed programmer I have found this to be sound advise even today

You should talk. There are at least 5 seperate sentences in that
first paragraph you posted. Talk about a run on sentence.

Last time I looked, sentences started with a capitAl letter
(see 2 below). Spell checkers are not a substitute for
learning to spell.

Main Entry: cap·i·tol
Pronunciation: 'ka-p&-t&l, 'kap-t&l
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin Capitolium, temple of Jupiter at Rome on
the Capitoline hill
1 a: a building in which a state legislative body meets
b: a group of buildings in which the functions of state
government are carried out
2 capitalized : the building in which the U.S. Congress
meets at Washington
