"URGENT" ... Cannot Open Excel File ..

R

Rodney

I am deperately in need of an Excel "Expert's" assistance.
I have created a rather sophisticated Excel Model in Excel
2002. It has taken just on 18 months to design with close
to 250 Function Formulas. Last night I was working away
inserting new worksheets and an ERROR message appeared.
"Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem & needs to
close" and needs tos hut down.
I wasn't concerned at the time because I have "Auto
Recovery" engaged ... BUT there is a Problem ... the file
won't open and it keeps taking me back to the same error
message. I do have a previous backup but I have done so
much to the program since then.

Is there some way that I can recover this file ... PLEASE
HELP !
..

Have you tried 'Open and Repair' in Excel 2002

Firstly make a copy of what you have now, even if it won't open, just in case it
may help.

When you do File / Open there is a drop down arrow that lets you try a repair on
the file.

Please also tell me that somewhere you have a backup, or even a lower version of
the file.

If that gives you no joy, then I'll happily try it in Excel 2003 for you - Don't
know if the repair facility has changed at all, but happy to give it a go. Just
need to take the NOSPAM out of my email address.
