UPS batteries

My UPS tells me I need new batteries but they still put out just over 6V
when running my PC, router, hub, cable modem and dvr. So far it's run them
for 15 minutes and the batteries are still above 6v. Is there really a
problem with the UPS batteries or maybe a problem with the UPS?

Thanks,
Michael

It ended up running for 55 minutes on battery power so I guess the batteries
are ok, although maybe it would have gone for 2 hours on new batteries.

UPS battery monitors are notoriously inaccurate. I have had dead batteries that the UPS software said were good, and good batteries that the UPS software said were dead.

I phoned SOLA and they tell me that 3 beeps every 5 minutes means 2
different things. First, it means the batteries are faulty and need
replacing. Second it means the batteries are being charged and are not
faulty. It looks like the UPS is working perfectly and I was mixing things
up. Lucky, I was one click away from ordering batteries for the thing. :)

That's what they said, about 3 to 5 years. I think I'm below 3 so I was
suprised to think the batteries were dead.

Batteries may have sat for awhile before put in product or
before product was bought.

Use of product- running from the battery, also reduces
service life, especially so if it is ran till the batteries
are nearer depleted rather than shutting off the machine
(gracefully, but) almost immediately.
