uploading to FTP site using Vista and IE7, can't

After logging in to my 'ftp' site, I can not upload or delete files on my
ISP's server. I see a message from Vista that says:

Internet Explorer could not open
https;//homedrive.home.nl/...... etc. as a web Folder
Would you like to see its default view instead?

I've turned off the Protected Mode for that site but still can not upload.
(I had no problem at the local library so I'm quite certain it's a setting
of some kind in Vista or IE7.) My ISP, @home.nl, is not up to speed yet on
IE7 and Vista. Am I alone here? Suggestions?

You might want to post in the IE7 newsgroup.

I've never been an expert with IE and never had much luck doing FTP from
within it. You might want to try the third-part FTP program FTP
Commander. I use the free version on both XP and Vista and it works very
well in both OS's.

Malke, thanks for replying. At the moment there are no newsgroups for IE7.

At the Microsoft Communities, I am sure there a few but I can not 'sign in'.
I've tried several times and am greeted with ... nothing.

Thanks, DH

IE7 questions are handled in the internet explorer newsgroup.

Have you tried logging into your FTP site via window explorer.

Go to your document folder (or any other windows folder) and typing the FTP
address from there.

You must have missed the part in my last post where I gave you the IE7
newsgroup. Here it is again:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

I'm not sure what you mean by "Microsoft Communities" but since you're
using Windows Mail I would think you could just add the above newsgroup
the same way you did in Outlook Express. The server is the same as for
the Vista groups: msnews.microsoft.com.

I succeeded in uploading files to my ftp site but it wasn't easy.
I asked my IP what my ftp address was. Normally I go through their site and
wind up at an https address.

I ultimately wound up using a ftp address and Windows Explorer (after
clicking on Page in the toolbar, receiving several error messages and then
right clicking on the 'file' in IE and entering in my name and password). I
still could not access my 'private' area where I can store files but that
will have to wait until my IP is fluent with IE7 and Vista.

Thanks here to all who helped. Dave Horne

Is this the EXACT message Internet Explorer gives you?
If so, change the "semi-colon" after "https" into a full colon (":") -- press
Shift while typing the character.

No, I made a typo. Sorry.
