uphclean safe mode

I have a WinXP SP2 notebook that will only start in safe mode. The only
errors I see in event viewer are related to events 1524 and 1517 (unload
profile errors). Not sure if this could cause my problem but I am unable to
run uphclean in safe mode to eliminate it. Is there any other way to remedy
this problem without using uphclean util?

I'm no expert but I don't think a profile unload error would keep you from
loading windows normally, but if you have recently installed a new video
driver I'd roll it back and try to start up normal. Also, be sure and run
antivirus, etc. from safe mode and attempt.

Hi,

Not an expert and meant to reply to the original post.

Since you can log into the safe mode, it is likely that the cause of the
problem preventing you from logging into the normal mode had not been
initiated. In other words, if it incurred, you won't be able to log in at
all. Therefore, you may not see the correct error codes logged.

Did you see any error messages during the normal boot before it stopped?

Are there any symptoms including both hardware and software?

I am sure others can help more if you could provide more information.

Good luck.
