Upgrding PC requests activation code again

i recently upgraded my pc dramatically.

XP suddendly spewed up the message

"Windows has detected that you have changed your system
configuration dramatically. Please reactivate windows
within the next 3 days"

can anyone shed some light on this?

You changed enough components or reinstalled Windows XP.
As per the Microsoft Product Activation, you must re-activate your copy of
Windows XP.
