My boss had me purchase a Sony Notebook computer. When it
came in, we realized that I ordered the wrong one. I
ordered the PCG-Z1RA1 which came with XP Home Edition
installed on it. He wanted XP Professional. What is
the best way to proceed from here? (We don't want to
return the laptop unless that's our only option). Is
there an upgrade to go from the Home Edition to
Professional that can be used on a notebook? Do we have
to purchase XP Professional, uninstall the Home Edition OS
then install the Professional?

Help. Please.

You can use the xp pro upgrade cd to go from home to pro, but since you
bought an oem computer installing anything other than the original os(home)
will most likely void the warranty and your tech support. I would call Sony
and find out if going to pro voids anything. If it does you may have to
return it and get what you need.

There is no special upgrade version just for this, but the
regular XP Professional Upgrade works fine (although it doesn't
say so on the box).
