upgrading Windows defender notification

I found Q+A:
If you installed Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) prior to the release of Windows
Defender (Beta 2), you will receive a software notification when a new
version is available.
I did not receive a notification. When antispyware checks for updates:
answer most recent software installed.
What shall i do uninstall Windows AntiSpyware (Beta1) and install Windows
defender Beta 2 ??

Gerald - this notification hasn't gone out yet. Microsoft will post in
these groups, in .announcements, before this notice goes out, as a heads up.

You are absolutely welcome to upgrade at any time via the download
center--there's no need to uninstall--the upgrade will take care of that.

You can also stay with the older version--definitions will continue to be
provided.

Hello Gerard,

Yes, uninstall Beta 1 first.
REMOVING BETA 1
Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administrator.

This needs to be run in safe mode.

Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and
click Remove.

In Windows Programs files, delete all the sub-directorys and the folder.

Delete in Windows\system 32 :
GcColetion.dll
Hashlib.dll
GcUnCompress.dll
GcTypLibA.tbl
GcAntiSpywareLib.dll
GcUserData.gcg

Windows\Downloaded Installations, any reference about MSAS.

Use Ccleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com
Note, uncheck Yahoos toolbar during installation of CCleaner.

Run the above remover in safe mode.
Then Ccleaner on all 3 settings(windows, apps & issues) and clear anything
found reboot and see if it still exists.

Done.

Beta 2.- I'd recommend downloading, and saving to a known location--like the
desktop.
After the download is complete, disable real-time protection by your
antivirus for long enough to do the installation.
I hope this post is helpful, let us know how it works ºut.
