I currently have windows 98 and I need to upgrade to
windows xp however I need to transfer some of my
applications.
How do I save my application programs without the CDs? I
don't want to have a dualboot system.

Tsk tsk, no CDs for your applications.

Keep in mind, a lot of applications are downloaded as shareware (WinZip,
Graphics Editors). How you obtain the other programs like MS Office is up to
you.

Your upgrade is always much cleaner when it's a fresh install. I like to
RENAME my "Windows" directory to "Win98" and put XP into a new Windows
folder. I also rename "My Documents" to "Doc.bak" and "Program Files" to
"Prog.bak".

I can't save my applications necessarily, but any bookmarks or other files
I've forgotten can be rescued
