I am thinking about replacing my Pentium III Processor and motherboard
for a Pentium 4. My question is: When I buy the new Processor does it
come with the necessary cooling fan or will I have to purchase say a fan
on a heatsink.

Hi,

when you purchase the P4 processor you will have to get the updated motherboard for the processor. that means you will get the heat sink and the fan for the processor.

Greetings,

Some CPUs come with a cooling fan others don't.

Thanks and best of luck!

Basicly OEM processors come with nothing and you have to
buy the heatsink/fan seperatly, but Retail boxed versions
come with a heatsink/fan.

A normal retail boxed P4 will come with heatsink and clamp and fan
You should get a small tube of thermal compound to smear on the face of
the heatsink before attaching it
