Upgrading OL 2K SP 3 to OL 2K3

Per subject, I am concerned about what will happen concerning the handling
of attachments.

In my current version (OL 2K SP 3) Outlook disables the activation of all
suspect attatchments. There is NO configuration to change this in this
scenario.

I know that later versions of OL allowed for an attachment config.

Will I be able to do an "upgrade", or will I be forced to remove OL 2K and
reinstall OL 2K3 to get this ability?

Thanks!

Outlook 2000 (SP3) allows you to customize which attachments you want to see
by modifying the registry. Perhaps
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup/getexe.htm is a good place for you
to start since it mentions how to modify the registry. If this frightens
you, take the link to get Ken's AttachmentOptions addin.

As for an upgrade. From what I understand the upgrade from Outlook 2000
Internet Mail Only mode to Outlook 2003 may cause a few issues that can be
resolved by creating a new mail profile via the mail applet. Outside of
that, the PST file won't be touched and the upgrade process will remove
Outlook 2000 since you can only have 1 version of Outlook installed on a
machine.

Thanks for that link. Actually I knew about the registry hack. And I'm not
really afraid to do it. It's just that I prefer keeping to GUI adjustments
for consistency across machines, rather than registry hacks. Honestly, I'm
not that miffed about the way OL2KSP3 handles the attachments :) So far
it's not really created any significant issues.

Yes, I use Internet mail only. So I'll be on the lookout for what you
describe.

Again, Thanks!
