Upgrading of Windows NT Policies to Windows 2000 AD

Michael

I am getting ready to upgrade a Windows NT 4 Domain with
policies to Windows 2000. Is there anything special that
needs to be done so my clients still receive their
policy??

Thanks

Well. if your clients running NT4.0 you should leave the old .pol files in
NETLOGON share. Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 Group Policy's can't be
applied to Pre-Windows2000 Systems.

To Manage Windows2000 and Windows XP clients. Use the new Group Policy.

To Manage Windows95,98,ME and NT4.0 use the old Policy Editor, pool edit.

If your clients are 2000/XP/2003 then you would need to migrate the policies
for those machines to continue to apply policies. However, it might be
easier just to redefine them in AD.
