Upgrading HDD & New Installation of Windows XP

My parents have a fairly old computer. A couple of years ago I upgraded their
OS from Win 98SE to Win XP. Their HDD is only 8GB, which is fairly small.
They've recently picked up digital photography, and considering all the
pictures they take, and all the music my sister owns, they need to upgrade
their HDD.

My question is what steps do I need to take so that I can put in a new HDD,
and install their Windows XP on that new HDD? They have the original box, the
original XP CD, and the receipt from the store where they bought Windows XP.

I would greatly appreciate it, if you could outline the steps I need to take
to accomplish this. No, I don't live with my parents, in case you were
wondering. Please forward any information to (e-mail address removed)

Also, they live in Canada, so please keep that in mind, as I fear that
Microsoft Canada and Microsoft US may have different policies for their
customers.

1)Will the other hardware on the sys support/work efficiently with the
digital camara software?
e.g. cpu, ram, vid etc.
2) Does the mobo bios support large hd's? (as it has an 8gb hd I doubt it)
3) Baring in mind the above your better option might be to buy a new PC,
Dell e.g. have some decent offers for not a lot of $
Also bare in mind that an old pc components have a finite life

If you still wish to go ahead, disconnect old hd, install new as master.
Boot with winxp cd and install following prompts, if its an upgrade win be
prepared to pop win98 cd in during the install to verify.
Once PC up and running, and updated you should install mobo chipset and
other drivers from vendors sites
Once all ok, shutdown connect old hd as slave, reboot and copy data to new.
