Actually XP Pro is a *downgrade* from XP Media Center and downgrade
installs are never supported.

About the only functionality that is included with XP Pro that is not
found in Media Center is the ability to join a Windows Server Domain.

If you really must make the move to XP Pro then your only option is to
format the hard drive (after backing up your data files of course) and
then doing a clean install of XP Pro on the empty hard drive.

Good luck

WinXP Pro cannot be installed "over" WinXP MCE, as no operating
system I've ever heard of supports a downgrade.

Simply boot from the WinXP Pro installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
