hello all, any productive help towards my problem will be greatly received.

right i got the upgrade cd from my uni and when i was doing the upgrade i
had one of my blonde moments, a pop up message saying that it could not copy
file

C:\$WIN_NT$~bt\vaxcsi.sys

as it was being used by another process. i clicked continue anyway and
continued with the upgrade.

well when the laptop rebooted i had two options and i choose to boot from xp
pro, it then wouldnt start.
What can i do to solve this???

Try booting back into XP Home and see if that works. If it does
insert the XP CD (while still running Home) and redo the upgrade.

If it will not boot into Home either then boot with the Pro Upgrade
CD, choose the options to install Windows XP and then choose to have
it repair the existing XP Pro if it gives you that choice.

Good luck
